We're real-life advocates for CBD and the balance and relief it has provided us - assisting with mental and general health and overall well-being provided by nature’s most powerful plant… and a little science.
CBD – Cannabidiol (Canna-bid-i-ol) is a chemical compound extracted from the Hemp (cannabis) plant. CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system (ECS), our body’s cell-signalling system which offers natural relief - supporting a productive workout whilst aiding recovery; assisting with sleep; managing anxiety and achieving greater general health and overall well-being. NUSPORT CBD® products will not get you high as they contain 0.0% THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and are legal to purchase in the UK.
This complex cell-signalling system plays a role in regulating a range of functions and processes, including: appetite and digestion, metabolism, chronic pain, inflammation and other immune system responses, mood, learning and memory, motor control, sleep, cardiovascular system function, muscle formation, bone growth, liver function, reproductive system function, stress, skin and nerve function.
The ECS involves three core components: endocannabinoids, receptors, and enzymes. Endocannabinoids - also called endogenous cannabinoids, are molecules made by your body. They’re similar to cannabinoids, but they’re produced by your body and they help keep your internal functions running smoothly. Your body produces them as needed, making it difficult to know what typical levels are for each.
Receptors - these receptors are found throughout your body. Endocannabinoids bind to them in order to signal that the ECS needs to take action. There are two main endocannabinoid receptors: CB1 receptors, which are mostly found in the central nervous system & CB2 receptors, which are mostly found in your peripheral nervous system, especially immune cells.
Endocannabinoids can bind to either receptor. The effects that result depend on where the receptor is located and which endocannabinoid it binds to.
For example, endocannabinoids might target CB1 receptors in a spinal nerve to relieve pain. Others might bind to a CB2 receptor in your immune cells to signal that your body’s experiencing inflammation, a common sign of autoimmune disorders. Enzymes - are responsible for breaking down endocannabinoids once they’ve carried out their function.
These functions all contribute to homeostasis, which refers to stability of your internal environment. For example, if an outside force, such as pain from an injury or a fever, throws off your body’s homeostasis, your ECS kicks in to help your body return to its ideal operation.
Hemp Extract interacts with the ECS and doesn’t bind to CB1 or CB2 receptors, preventing endocannabinoids from being broken down. This allows them to have more of an effect on your body. While the details of how it works are still under debate, research suggests that Hemp Extract can help with pain, nausea, and other symptoms associated with multiple conditions. Source: Healthline
There are many ways to absorb CBD into the body, all of which can be beneficial – oils, edibles, vapes and topicals are the most popular. There’s no one-size-fits-all recommendation and each method delivers CBD to your body in a different way. Focus on what area you want to treat and chose a product that best suits your needs.
NUSPORT CBD® products contain 0% THC, so there is no psychoactive ingredient that could cause a ‘high’ or drowsiness so they’re safe to use in any situation.
NUSPORT CBD® products are sold as a dietary supplement.
